Accommodation Wanted.....

I'm a graduate student at the University of California at Berkeley, and I'm beginning basic research work on my doctoral thesis on the Chester Mystery Plays. Needless to say, I'll be in attendance at your production this summer, no matter what, and I'm very excited about it.

But I'd love any opportunity to work closely with the production in any way possible, and to experience the production along with the community producing it.

My particular issue, though: I don't, of course, live anywhere close to Chester. If I volunteered, might another participant in the production be able to lend me a couch (or perhaps a spot of comfortable floor?) to sleep on?

What I can offer as a volunteer: I'm relatively well-versed in all aspects of theatre (including design and tech); I trained at NYU-Tisch and did some off-off-Broadway work before moving to California to pursue academics. In California, I've worked on outdoor productions, whether helping with sets (with the San Francisco Mime Troupe) or designing and stage managing (an original piece at UC Davis). I'm willing to do any task: handing out programs, set up and strike, whatever you need. I can send on a resume if you wish, not to mention an academic CV and references.

Depending on how long (or whether) I find a place to stay in Chester, I'd be able to visit for almost the entire run of the show -- but I'm delivering a paper (on the Mystery Plays, of course) at a conference in Swansea on 7/18, so I wouldn't be able to be present for the last few days of the run.

Even if there is neither any capacity for me to volunteer nor any place for me to stay, I'm eager to meet any members of the production who are willing to talk with me about their experiences in the show.  Hope to hear from you soon!
