Letter from the Chairman
Dear All
I’m sorry that we seem to be bombarding everyone with paper in the final week, but I’m sure you’ll appreciate that there’s still a lot to do!
Once again, congratulations to everyone on an amazing production. We are privileged to work with so many talented and committed people and cannot thank everyone enough for all of your contributions – from performers to prop makers, from programme sellers to technicians, from matrons and parents to the production team.
Over the last three weeks, thousands of people have seen the Chester Mystery Plays – they are a huge artistic and theatrical success and I have no doubt that they have been recognised as such by audiences and press alike. We have been doing an audience survey (as well as getting people’s comments on post-it notes) and will publish the results of this (when available) on the Company website, along with copies of press cuttings.
Through the wonders of modern technology, the 2008 production will be the best documented ever. We already have hundreds of photographs and are exploring ways in which these can be shared with everyone. You’ll also know that we have produced a DVD – a copy will be sent to you if you place an order with Judy on the merchandise desk, although we are hoping they will be ready and on site by Saturday.
There is one thing in particular that we would like your help with. Over the next few weeks, we would be very grateful if you could record your personal reflections on your experience with the 2008 Chester Mystery Plays (and, if you have any, your thoughts on how it should be in future). We’d like to know what impact it’s had on your life, what you’ve gained from it, what you feel you’ve contributed. We want to hear about everything – good and bad! You can do this anonymously; you could write something on a postcard, a letter or an email; you could draw or paint a picture; you could record a video diary – use any method you feel happy with.
Any information we receive will help us in thinking about how we approach the next Chester Mystery Plays. It will also help us in making bids for funding if we can say something about what kind of experience people have in participating in the Plays. We may use quotes from what you say, but we will not attach names to them without your permission.
The last few months (or years in some cases!) have been a huge journey – help us continue it into the future.
